After suffering a crash while practising between rounds of the American outdoor motocross championship last year that has left him out of racing for almost 9 months, Brett Metcalfe is set to return to racing in 2013 in Canada.
Rumours surfaced on Friday evening Australian time that Metcalfe was going to race for the Leading Edge Kawasaki Race team in Canada, with no current ride for the American out door series available.
The news of his ride in Canada first broke on the American website
Vital MX on their forum over the weekend, and was then confirmed by
RacerX's Jason Weigandt the following day.
"Just got official word today on a rumour we've heard about for some time. Brett Metcalfe has come to terms with Leading Edge Kawasaki to ride the Canadian Nationals this summer." Weigandt posted on the racerX website "We wish Metty good luck up there, and we'll follow up with more info as it comes in."
Metcalfe's racing future has been in limbo since the start of this year. After returning to riding in Australia at one of his brothers Y-AIM Institute of Motocross schools where he spend some time aboard a Yamaha, and later in the day once the school was over, also got some seat time on a Honda.
Since that day Metcalfe has been rumoured to be joining various teams, including Geiko Honda and Star Yamaha in the United States as well as a brief moment of hope for Australian fans when it looked as though he may just return to race in Australia for Suzuki.
More news should be revealed regarding Metcalfe's racing future today as he talks to American journalist Steve Matthes on his live Pulp MX Show that can be listened to mid morning in Australia by
