Over 340 riders amassed on Newborough for the opening round of the 2013 Victorian Senior Motocross Championships on the weekend of March 23-24.
Motocross stars such as Kade Mosig, Sam Martin, Dylan Long, Jesse McNally, Adam Monea and Kristy Gillespie graced one of Victoria‰Ûªs biggest motorcycle clubs, Blue Rock Motorcycle Club and were treated to a well-prepared and fast track.
This year‰Ûªs competition saw the introduction of a number of new classes, race formats and competition give-aways. The much-hyped Professional Open and Lites classes definitely didn‰Ûªt disappoint the large crowd of fans that lined the fence on both days.
Ballarat rider Joel Milesevic shared the spoils with AMA Supercross rider and fellow Victorian Kade Mosig in the Pro Lites class on Sunday. Mosig, from Pearcedale, won the first race with a total time of 30:58.593 just ahead of Milesevic and Jake Emanuelli.
Race 2 came down to the wire with Joel‰Ûªs time of 31:15.583 just edging out Kade‰Ûªs time of 31:16.272. The fastest lap of the day went to Mosig as he broke the 2-minute barrier in Lap 3 of Race 1 with a 01:58.942. Kale Makeham took out third-place.
Milesevic, who won the A Lites and Under 19s class at last year‰Ûªs titles, was thrilled that he was able to get his year off to a good start.
