Blake Hore extends series lead at Yamaha Victorian Off-Road Championship

Posted:

Cold, rainy and a scattering of snow at Monza Park, Ballarat, saw rounds 9 & 10 of the Yamaha Victorian Off-Road Championship be hosted by the Ballarat Rovers Club in fine form. With riders competing in 9 sprint tests throughout the day, any minor mistake could lead to a disastrous result. With less than 20 points separating the top three Pro riders and the next 3 fighting hard to keep in the top 5 the pressure was immense. Saturday saw Blake Hore manage to fend of Jehi Willis‰Ûªs continual hunt for the number 1 plate, by winning 7 out of the 9 tests for the day. Willis did manage to hold comfortably onto second place over Mark Portbury and Matt Fish. Congratulations to Mark on his first podium appearance for the season. Once again Expert Riders Daniel Milner and Reece Klippel showed the boys how it can be done by finishing 4th and 5th on the outright standings and of course winning their respective classes. In the Junior Classes Alex Bolton (J4) managed to close the gap on Jesse Milner, while Travis Cooper (J3), Lachlan Terry (J2) and Andrew Wilksch (J1) once again dominated their classes. Sunday saw only 4 heats of the sprint track be completed. With slippery conditions, mistakes were made which saw Fish and Willis fade into the background and allow Hore to once again extend his lead. He wasn‰Ûªt totally uncontested however, with Portbury managing one better for his second podium appearance to finish in 2nd place. Todd Stephenson who had been a little quiet on Saturday managed to step it up again and finish 3rd just in front of Dan Goodwin. The only change from Saturday‰Ûªs Junior Riders results was in the J1 class which saw Jake Salems step up to take 1st place and his first win for the season. Other podium winner‰Ûªs from the weekend include: SATURDAY:
Luke Grylls (C1),
Rick Miles (C2),
David Murray (C3),
Jed Cornthwaite (INTER),
Andrew Bain (MASTERS),
James Bowden (V35),
Brett Wiltshire (V40).

SUNDAY:
Luke Grylls (C1),
Brett Pitcher (C2),
David Murray (C3),
Jed Cornthwaite (INTER),
Andrew Bain (MASTERS),
Hugh Moll (V35),
Brett Wiltshire (V40).

The next 2 rounds will be held on the 20th and 21st of September by the North-West Motorcycle Club in the Mildura area.
