16 year old Ben Burrell has handed in his junior licence after wrapping up the 2009 AORC championships outright for the 2nd year in a row put his new senior licence to good use over the weekend where he entered the final round of the NSW Sprint Series Championship.
Although the terrain was incredibly hilly and considered to be a ‰Û÷horse power‰Ûª track, Ben was understandably nervous prior to his first Pro level ride, with his main sights being on the current 250 4stroke AORC Pro E1 champ Ben Kearney.
After only a week back on the bike from being support crew at the ISDE, Ben had little time to catch up with some neglected school work and testing of the new YZ250F but ultimately that provide litle of a setback.
Saturdays race proved to be a bit of a learning period for Ben and the new bike, and after a few suspension adjustments, he was pleased to take 2nd to Kearney and 5th outright.
From there a after a few more adjustments on the Sunday morning his times started to improvea and by day‰Ûªs end Ben had ridden strongly and pulled a comfortable lead over Kearney to win his first senior Pro class race.
‰ÛÏI‰Ûªm absolutely wrapped and feel good to have finally got through all that and now know roughly what speed I‰Ûªm at and what I need to work on‰Û
