The final round of the inaugural Yamaha Australian Supermoto Championship will be held in Tasmania on Sunday November 23rd.
A temporary circuit will be built in the car park of Hobart‰Ûªs Derwent Entertainment Centre with the Derwent River as a
picturesque background.
Series promoter Kevin Williams (WEM) said. "I‰Ûªm really excited about the grand final in Tasmania, some of best events have been
staged there and the support is always awesome, the feeling around town is that if we get a
good day we could see 5000 plus spectators".
""I‰Ûªm very excited about the venue, this is really taking the racing to the people and to have a
street race in a capital city in our first year is really something."
"With the event being the grand finale of the very exciting Australian Motorcycle week I‰Ûªm sure
that all who visit the Apple Isle will enjoy the spectacle". He added.
On the track the series looks set to be a nail biter with Subway Yamaha's Adam Altham leading the S2 class by 1 solitary point from Noyce Honda's Mark Willis.
In the S1 class Husaberg's Mark Avard has a 37 point lead over KTM's Stuart Bennett, but Sunday the 23rd of November is the same weekend as the US Supermoto final in Las Vegas in which Avard is a good chance to win, this leaves the talented Aussie with an almost impossible schedule to meet.
