Australian Luke Styke has suffered a shoulder injury at the 13th round of the World Motocross Championship held at HyvinkÌ_Ì_, Finland on Sunday.
Racing for the KEMEA Yamaha racing team, Styke crashed in the first corner at the start of the opening moto and was struck from behind by the chasing MX2 pack. The section of the track was under yellow flags for two laps while he was treated at the scene.
His shoulder took the hardest hit and he was immediately taken to hospital for a check-up. X-rays showed no broken bones but heavily stretched ligaments in the shoulder.
The good news is Styke suffered no other serious injuries despite the heavy full but will have further scans to ensure no other damage has been done on his return to Belgium.
"Hey everyone, had a crash in the 1st turn yesterday, had a good hit to the head, got x-rays there is nothing broken, go back to Belgium and get further scans on shoulder I think there's something wrong!" Styke posted on his personal facebook page. "Thanks to the people that have my back from the start.
"I‰Ûªm happy no broken bones were found, but we‰Ûªll have him checked again in Belgium to be sure." Team Manager Marnicq Bervoets said in an official statement. "I hope it‰Ûªs not too bad so he can start riding again as soon as possible."
At this point in time it is unknown when Styke will return to riding or racing action.
We wish Styke all the best and hopefully a speedy recovery that will see him return to racing as soon as possible.
