Australian Joey‰Ûªs just miss 2019 FIM Team Speedway U21 World Championship podium

Under 21 Team Australia speedway riders affectionately known as the Joey‰Ûªs road to the FIM Team Speedway U21 World Championship Final at the National Speedway Stadium in Manchester England on 12th July ended with a fourth and final place.

Poland‰Ûªs winning ways continued with a 41 points tally being enough to successfully win their 6th consecutive Gold medal in a row proving once again their dominance of team speedway on the world stage.

The Manchester track which is the home of the famous Belle Vue Aces in the British Premiership League proved to be a great venue with supporters turned out in droves to support their nations in what was a very competitive night of speedway that produced the kind of action, thrills and spills for which the club‰Ûªs fine track is renown.

A heroic battle for the remaining silver and bronze medals was a hotly contested duel between host country Great Britain 33 points ) narrowly taking 2nd place and Denmark (31 points) with the Joey‰Ûªs trialling in last place.
The Joey‰Ûªs lack of international experience turned out to be their chink in armour and being their only downfall. A late flurry of points in the closing stages on the meeting came with some relief as Captain Jaimon Lidsey and Jordan Stewart won their remaining races proving they have the abilities to compete with best of their age brackets.

Australian Team Manager Mark Lemon said ‰ÛÏA podium place was always going to be big ask for the young speedsters but ultimately they did themselves and their country proud, gaining invaluable experience that will serve them well in the future. They can be very proud of efforts in reaching the final‰Û
