Arthur Sissis was forced to withdraw from his first race for the Mahindra team at last weekends opening round of the Moto3 World Championship in Qatar, after suffering a savage attack of tonsillitis.
Still suffering in morning warm-up, the team withdrew the Australian before the start of the event.
"The bike felt good, the rider not," Sissis lamented. "I tried in warm-up, but I could only do four or five laps at a not very fast speed, and after that I couldn‰Ûªt concentrate any more. I had tonsillitis, and I‰Ûªve been taking a real lot of pills. I‰Ûªm gutted not to ride, but there was no point in battling on for 18 laps for the last positions. I‰Ûªm looking forward to the next one now."
Sissis compatriot Jack Miller went on to win the round in his debut for the KTM race team.
