New Zealand rider Cody Cooper endured another frustrating round of the Monster Energy MX Nationals on Sunday with mid pack starts once again proving his nemesis.
The Motul Pirelli Suzuki ride did manage to race to a dominant moto win at Appin, when a holeshot gave him the clear track he needed to show the speed that he possesses.
However an eighth in moto one, and a come from behind seventh in moto three meant Cooper missed the podium for the day by just a couple of points finishing 4th overall.
Cooper sits fifth in the championship chase, with his result on the weekend moving him closer to a top-three position as only 32 points now separate him from an overall podium.
"Again it was a mixed bag for me." stated Cooper. "My speed felt good and I felt awesome, but it was difficult for sure and Appin was probably the hardest track of all to pass on.
"There was just one rut around the whole track during the motos." he added.
The Australian Motocross Championship will now take a two-week break before reaching the penultimate round at Moree in New South Wales on Sunday August 19th.
