Alex Rins Only 9 Points of Moto2 Championship Lead After Aragon Win

Posted:

Spanish rider Alex Rins led four KTM riders to the finish line in Aragon ,Spain to take his fifth Moto3 GP win of the season and move closer to championship leader Luis Salom of Red Bull KTM Ajo Factory Team.

Maverick Vinales and Marc Marquez took second and third and Salom held off attacks by Miguel Olivieri to salvage fourth place in what was another great display or riding by young Spanish riders. Salom has six victories to his credit in 2013.

Rins and Vinales fought a hard two-way battle for the lead in the final laps with Rins finally surging ahead.

Red Bull KTM Ajo Factory rider, Australian Arthus Sissis was a solid ninth Jack Miller aboard is Caretta Technology RTG machine finished back in 13th but remains the leading Honda Rider in the championships.

‰ÛÏWe struggled all weekend." Miller admitted. "Qualifying was a disaster, I had the wrong tyre, and we ended up losing out so today we had to start from the back.

"We had a good pace, even yesterday I should have been seventh on the grid, which would have been a bit nicer. So I had to work my way through and into that big group.

"It was going good, then Vazquez hit Khairuddin and he went down and we all had to chop the gas, and broke up the group. We lost the slipstream and that was pretty much the end of it. But we took some points, that‰Ûªs the main thing.‰Û
