Lesmurdie‰Ûªs local motocross pro Michael Addison has taken lead of the Pro Open class in the WA State Motocross Championship as round two ventured to the Ken Marshall race circuit in Kalgoorlie the weekend.
Riding the KTM 450 SX-F for Belmont Tools WA KTM Dealership Team, Addison competed in three motos resulting in two second place finishes and one first place finish, which combined gave him first overall for the round, and a 10 point lead in the championship, over fellow KTM rider and round one winner Dean Porter.
Commenting on his achievement Addison said, "It‰Ûªs only been two weeks since the last operation I had on my wrist which I badly broke in October, so I‰Ûªm really happy to get these results for my team so early in the season.
"In my opening moto I got a reasonable start in third place and stayed there for pretty much the entire 15 minutes of the race. The track was hard packed and quite dusty at the start of the day but thankfully we got some rain by the second moto which allowed for much better racing conditions.
"It was my second moto that achieved the best points - I easily won this race, claiming the hole shot and leading from start to finish. My two main competitors Carl Pickersgill and Dean Porter both crashed in this race so their points score was down, giving me the advantage.
"I got the holeshot again in the final moto and led up until the last three laps when my wrist started to get very painful. I struggled with the pain and Carl Pickersgill took the lead but I was a close second, which sealed me the round win and the Championship lead.‰Û
