Former Motocross and Supercross champion and local resident Paul Grant claimed the top honours in the A and B Grade Open class by taking two out of the three race wins during the running of the annual Kings of the Valley Motocross event at the Oakdale Motor Vehicle Racing Ground (MVRG) last Sunday (August 19) but he had to work hard for it with race three winner, teenager Aden de Jager and others that kept him well and truly honest.
Grant won both race one and two in the A and B Grade open class ahead of Shay Bogg, but in the third and final race it was leading Australian Motocross Championship privateer de Jager that managed to get into victory lane by defeating Grant and Bogg in second and third respectively.
On the Sunday all riders battled it out in rain affected track conditions, but still managed some closely fought racing.
Others class winners on the day included: Jessica Nesbitt (Womens), Chris Rowlandson (C Grade Open), Jye Lucas (C Grade Rookies), Axel Madge (Clubman), Andrew Moerig (A and B Grade Lites), and Cameron Eastway (Junior Lites).
Saturday's action for the juniors saw class wins shared between Brendan Tanti (50cc 7 to under 9 years), Elias Dukes (65cc 7 to under 10 years), Jordan Bissaker (65cc 10 to under 13 years), Luke Arnold (65cc 9 to under 12 years), Corey James (85cc 12 years), and Dylan Gosling (85cc 13 to under 16 years).
