2007 Yamaha Australian Off Road Championship wrap up

The final 2 Rounds of the 12 round 2007 Yamaha Australian Off Road Championships were completed at Gwandalan on the Central Coast in NSW last weekend. The weekend saw AJ Roberts (GHR Honda) take the winners podium for the Outright Position again for the 3rd consecutive time. He was closely followed by Ballards Yamaha Off Road Team riders Chris Hollis and Jarrod Bewley in 2nd and 3rd place respectively. Round Eleven was in the style of a Cross Country Format, they raced in natural terrain and bushland. This format was well received by all, even in the difficult muddy conditions. After more overnight rain, Round Twelve on Sunday was a Sprint Format and 3 heats were completed on the day to finish off the Championship. In the ADB Clubman of the Year Award for 2007, Luke Tomlinson the 17yr old rider from Canberra riding a Yamaha YZF450 in the Clubman Enduro 2 Class took the win. Championship Outright Rd 11 & Rd 12‰ÛÒ It was an all Yamaha Podium in the Outright Class on Saturday, Ballards Yamaha Off Road Team rider Jarrod Bewley in 1st, followed by Team Moto rider Kirk Hutton in 2nd and Chris Hollis (Ballards Yamaha Off Road Team) in 3rd. Sunday‰Ûªs results changed with Peter Boyle (Shell Honda) taking the winning honours by 8.7secs from Damian Smith in 2nd and Shannon Lewry (Ballards Yamaha Off Road Team) in 3rd position. Championship Outright Results ‰ÛÒ AJ Roberts riding for GHR Honda took the Number 1 Plate in the 2007 Championship winning by 49 points from Ballards Yamaha Off Road Team riders Chris Hollis in 2nd place & Jarrod Bewley in 3rd place. Ben Kearney (Motorex Shift KTM) followed in 4th place and Christensens Motorcycles rider Blake Hore took 5th place. Championship Enduro One Rd 11 & Rd 12 ‰ÛÒ Ballards Yamaha Off Road Team rider Chris Hollis won the class on Saturday, followed by Peter Boyle riding for Shell Honda in 2nd place and Ben Kearney (Motorex Shift KTM) came in 3rd place. On Sunday Peter Boyle took the win by 8.7 seconds from Damian Smith (Yamaha) in 2nd place, Damian did well to come back from a crash on Saturday and Chris Hollis held down 3rd place from Josh Green in 4th place. Championship Outright Results ‰ÛÒ Ballards Yamaha Off Road Team rider Chris Hollis took the win in the Championship Enduro One class on 278 points from Ben Kearney riding for Motorex Shift KTM in 2nd place on 249 points and Ben Grabham held down 3rd place with 203 points after missing Rd 11 & Rd 12 due to injury from the Safari. 4th place position was taken by Team Husqvarna Racing rider Andrew Lloyd and Josh Green in 5th place. Championship Enduro Two ‰ÛÒ A.J. Roberts riding for GHR Honda won his class after a difficult start on Saturday. Shannon Lewry (Ballards Yamaha Off Road Team) in 2nd place and Blake Hore (Christensens Motorcycles) in 3rd place. On Sunday AJ Roberts was winning the class with one race to go when he encountered bike problems which dropped him back to 9th place. Shannon Lewry narrowly took the win by 3.7seconds from Blake Hore in 2nd place and Jarrod Bewley in 3rd place after switching classes on Sunday. Championship Outright Results ‰ÛÒ AJ Roberts easily took the Championship in Enduro Two Class by 49 points. Blake Hore just held down 2nd place by 3 points from fast charging Ballards Yamaha Off Road Team rider Shannon Lewry in 3rd place. Championship Enduro Three ‰ÛÒ Jarrod Bewley riding for Ballards Yamaha Off Road Team won Round 11, Kirk Hutton (Team Moto Racing Team) was in great form by taking 2nd place and Jehi Willis (Motorex Shift KTM) came 3rd. With Jarrod moving to Enduro Two Class for Round 12 it left a three man race for Rd 12 Results. Adam Lees (Husaberg) took the honours by 9.7 seconds from Kirk Hutton and Jehi Willis. Championship Outright Results ‰ÛÒ Ballards Yamaha Off Road Team Rider Jarrod Bewley won the Enduro Three Class with 270 points from Team Moto Yamaha Rider Kirk Hutton in 2nd place from Jehi Willis (Motorex Shift KTM) in 3rd place and Adam Lees was in 4th place after missing 4 rounds. Championship Veteran Class ‰ÛÒ Tony Smidt took the win in Round 11, followed by Garry Dukes and Trent Lean. Stuart Bennett (Team Husqvarna Racing) had and up and down weekend with bike troubles on Saturday. At Round 12 Tony Smidt took the win easily from Stuart Bennett (Team Husqvarna Racing) in 2nd place and Trent Lean in 3rd place. Championship Outright Results ‰ÛÒ Stuart Bennett riding for Team Husqvarna Racing won the Championship Vets on 266 points from Garry Dukes in 2nd place on 172 points and Trent Lean on 152 points on 3rd place. Championship Masters Class - Geoff Ballard (Ballards Yamaha Off Road Team) excelled again in his class by winning Round 11 from David Rose who took 2nd place and Iain Edgar in 3rd place. Championship Outright Results ‰ÛÒ Geoff Ballard won the Championship Masters Class from Steven Clarke in 2nd place and Alan Johnston and Iain Edgar in 3rd & 4th place. Championship Women‰Ûªs - Alison Parker (Ballards Yamaha Off Road Team) won both 11 and 12 Rounds and Rosie Lalonde took 2nd place, unfortunately Kayla Bussa didn‰Ûªt finish on Saturday , but came in 2nd place in Round 12. Championship Outright Results ‰ÛÒ Ballards Yamaha Off Road Team rider Alison Parker won the Championship Womens class on 294 points from Rosie Lalonde (Incite Racing) on 220 points and Kayla Bussa was in 3rd place on 158 points .
