Justin Brayton has taken a 450SX class third place for the privateer Australian Muc-Off Honda team at round two of the 2021 AMA Supercross, his first for three years.

Following a solid season opener, it was clear Brayton had the fire in his belly to deliver a podium result. After taking time to learn the track in the heats and qualifying races, Brayton put it all together in the main event to secure third overall, against factory riders.

“I am so pumped to have got onto the podium in the second round. These podiums are not easy to come by when there are 15 factory riders who are all capable of being on the podium in any given night, so I am going to cherish this moment and continue to chase for podiums throughout the rest of the championship. We definitely have the speed, we just need to stay consistent with our good starts. With how fast everyone is going now, there are tenths between us so it is vital to get a good start every round. ” Brayton said.

The teams 250 rider Mitchell Oldenburg stuck to his word and dialled it up a notch for the second round. Shedding his season opener nerves, Oldenburg had a solid start and was running in the top four until a small crash meant he ended up falling back to 11th. After picking himself up he was able to work his way back into seventh over the chequered flag.

“Tonight was so much better for me, I feel more relaxed on the bike and that showed in the main event when I was able to get a good start and get inside the top six. I know I am riding well, I definitely have the speed and drive to move forward, I just made a small mistake which set me back. I was glad I was able to come through the back to seventh after having to pick the bike back up. It is still a good place to be in at this point in the season so I can build on that for the third round. I am so pumped for Brayton to get onto the podium, that was cool to see!” Oldenburg said.

For Team Principle Yarrive Konsky it was a night to remember.

"I am honestly a little bit lost for words, I am so stoked and proud," Konsky said. "I knew JB had the skill and capability to do this so seeing him put it altogether in a race like that gives me immense pride. I am also really pleased with how Oldenburg has ridden tonight, he finished 7th overall but has shown he has the speed to be up there in the top three and I am confident he will be up there soon!" -

The team now head into the final round of the Houston rounds this Saturday 23rd January. Racing starts at 7pm (Eastern Standard Time – Australia – Wednesday at 12pm)
