16 year old Wilson Todd kicked off the 2014 Queensland Supercross Championships in perfect fashion with victory in the Pro Lites class at the opening round of the series, held on the weekend.
In front of an enthusiastic crowd, Todd showed he was going to be a contender in the final after battling Serco Yamaha duo of Jay Wilson and Luke Clout in the heat races and he wasn‰Ûªt scared to go bar to bar with his more experienced rivals.
When the final roared off, Todd hit the front as the field hit the whoops for the first time and took control of the race. He fought off a spirited challenge from Jay Wilson in the early laps before getting a comfortable margin over Wilson by the halfway point.
With a few seconds separating the lead pair, Todd was able to manage the lead with smart riding and good speed and took the win in the 12 lap final seven seconds clear of Jay Wilson and fellow Yamaha rider, Jesse Madden in third. Luke Clout finished fifth after a poor start.
