Max Anstie has achieved another significant milestone for the Firepower Honda race team by claiming the championship lead with a privateer team heading into round 3 of the 2024 AMA East Coast Supercross Championship.

Despite his frustrations with the overall finish of sixth in round two, Anstie is pleased to carry the red plate into the upcoming Daytona round.

“After an early race incident where I collided with another rider and damaged my bike, I had to fight my way back,” the reigning World Supercross Champions explained. “While the overall result was frustrating, having the red plate going into Daytona is special,” said Anstie, acknowledging the dedication of his team.

Anstie, at 30 years old and with a pro career dating back to 2009, is savouring his first-time experience of holding the red plate.

“It’s a culmination of factors—the support around me, training at MTF, feeling settled, and the teamwork and momentum built in Australia. I’m incredibly grateful to everyone involved. Now, our focus is on maintaining consistency,” Anstie added.

Team Principal Martin Davalos expressed his pride in the team’s achievements and acknowledged the sacrifices made by all involved.

“As a small team, Yarrive (Konsky) has made significant sacrifices to establish and maintain this program. Securing the red plate is a testament to our dedication and the hard work of our staff and sponsors,” said Davalos, emphasizing the historical significance of this milestone for a true privateer team.
