Wonthaggi will again kickstart the ProMX Championship in 2026, with the spectacular Victorian venue confirmed to host the season opener on March 21–22.
Importantly, Wonthaggi becomes the first venue officially announced for 2026, with Motorcycling Australia once again rolling out next year’s championship locations in its now-familiar staggered style over the coming weeks and months.
Thanks to continued support from the Bass Coast Shire Council, 2026 marks the sixth straight year Wonthaggi has opened the championship. The popular two-day format will return, featuring an additional racing category across the weekend.
Wonthaggi remains one of ProMX’s standout rounds not only for its demanding layout but also for the region’s scenery, hospitality and wide range of local services. The Bass Coast area includes well-known tourism hotspots such as Phillip Island and Inverloch.
The highly experienced Dandenong Motorcycle Club will once again run and support the event, which will open an eight-round 2026 championship scheduled to wrap up in early August.
Bass Coast Shire Council Mayor, Cr Rochelle Halstead, said the region is proud to again play host to the prestigious season opener. “We couldn’t be more thrilled that Wonthaggi has the honour of hosting the ProMX opener for the sixth year in a row. We’re incredibly proud to again partner with Motorcycling Australia to bring this world-class championship back to Wonthaggi,” she said.
