Women’s Cup Team podium in Aussie Gold Rush at 2011 ISDE

Posted:

Motorcycling Australia (MA) has congratulated the Australian Women's Cup Team on their third-place finish at the 2011 International Six Day Enduro (ISDE) in Finland.

Led by Alison Parker, Jess Gardiner and Jemma Wilson the trio ensured a podium finish for Australia in one of the toughest events on the Motorcycle Sport calendar.

Success wasn't limited to the Women, with star duo Toby Price and Matthew Phillips taking home Gold after finishing fourth and fifth respectively in the E2 class.

For Price the medal is a further edition to his bulging ISDE trophy cabinet, while Phillips announced himself on the world stage with his first ISDE medal in his event debut.

Price and Phillips were the standouts for the World Trophy team which struggled after losing the likes of Kirk Hutton, Glenn Kearney and Daniel Milner.

E3 class rider Geoff Braico did his part narrowly missing out on a Gold Medal and finished 11th overall to take home Silver.

Youngster Mitcham Harper was the star of the fifth-placed Junior Trophy Team finishing 15th overall in the E2 class, ensuring a Gold Medal for the talented teenager.

The good news didn't stop there for the Aussies with Mitchell Bowen claiming a Silver Medal after finishing 12th in the E3 class, while Josh Ballard also took home Silver in the E2 class.

Nathan Castle was the best of the other Aussies in action in Finland, finishing one place off a Gold Medal in the C2 class, settling for 9th overall and a Silver Medal.

Joining Castle with Silver was Scott Campbell (25th in the C2 class), while Riccardo Braico claimed Bronze (34th) and Steven Braico also finished with a Bronze Medal after finishing 37th in the C3 class.

MA , who funds the teams trip, said it would like to thank and congratulate all the Australian riders and support staff, led by Team Manager Don Atkins, for their efforts over the past week in Finland.
