Wilson Todd wrapped up the 2022 MX2 ProMX title with a round to spare.

Entering the seventh round of the 2022 Australian Pro MX Championship with a commanding lead in the MX2 class, HRC Australia’s Wilson Todd did more than enough to clinch the title in the first moto on Sunday in what was a historic moment for all involved.

“I am so happy to win the MX2 title. The Honda was flawless all year and it was nice to win the championship with a round to spare,” said Todd.

Proving just how capable he is aboard the ‘red’ machinery, Todd also competed in the MX1 class and claimed pole position in his maiden outing on the CRF450R. His races did not quite go to plan, as he felt the effects of racing and qualifying for both classes.

After locking away the MX2 Championship Wilson Todd elected to sit out the second moto and concentrate his efforts on the MX1 class where he finished fifth overall and also qualified fastest in both classes.

“We made the late decision to race moto one in the MX2 class,” Todd continued. “The original plan was that I was only going to race in the MX1 class. It was my decision and I paid the price; I was definitely feeling beaten up by the end of the day.”

Wilson finished fifth overall in his first MX1 outing and is looking forward to Coolum this weekend. “I will race in the MX1 class only this weekend and will make sure that I rest this week to be better prepared for the challenge on my CRF450R,” concluded Todd.

Dean Ferris did all he could in the hunt for the MX1 championship by winning both motos and gaining another 5 points in the championship hunt.

Dean Ferris continued his incredible form in MX1, going 1-1-2 for his third overall victory of the season. The three-time champion is happy with his level and comfort aboard his steed; he will not let up until the final flag falls next week.

“I did everything that I could and we claimed another overall win. It is not over and I will do everything that I can to win the final round and let what happens behind me be whatever it is going to be,” said Ferris with an eye placed on the big prize.

Showing more of his trademark raw speed, Kyle Webster returned to racing and proved that he has the pace to run up front again. He raced within his limits as he works on returning to full-race speed and fitness.

“It was great to be racing and I will take many positives from this weekend,” reflected Webster. “The results do not show it but I am happy with where I am at now, as I have only been back on the bike for two weeks.”

The team will turn its attention to the final round in Coolum this coming weekend and aim to cap off another successful domestic season with additional glory.
