Queensland Yamaha Junior Racing‰Ûªs Wilson Todd kicked off his 2014 season in impressive fashion winning five out of six races he contested at the opening round of the Shell Sunshine State Motocross Series held at Roma over the weekend.
After logging plenty of laps during the off season, Todd was confident of a good showing at the series opener and happy with his new 2014 YZ machines.
He dominated the 13-15 years 125cc class taking three wins from three starts and get the perfect start to the series. He muscled his way to the front in all three races and sped away from his opposition to take comfortable victories in all three races.
The chance of a perfect day was taken away in the first race in the 15 years 250cc when some moisture found its way into the motor and his bike was backfiring badly. Some fresh fuel and a quick check over had the bike back in good shape and he rebounded well to take the final two race wins and limit the point‰Ûªs damage.
‰ÛÏI‰Ûªm not too sure what happened to the 250 as it was running perfect in practice but not so good in the first race." Todd explained. "Thankfully, the team got it under control and it was awesome for the rest of the day.
"I love the new bike and feel I can ride it so much faster than the old model," he added.
‰ÛÏThe 125 was good. No real dramas, I just got some good starts and was able to get to the front pretty quickly. It‰Ûªs good to be back racing again and have the season under way,‰Û
