Wild and whacky goings on in Bercy

In between the fist fights take-outs and accusing press releases a supercross race actually broke out in Bercy, France, this year. As you may have guessed the Alessi's where in town and along with them comes controversy. Aside from the punch in the face handed to Mike Alessi on Friday night after an on and off track altercation with hometown boy Steve Boniface and the wrestling match that took place in the tunnel between the Alessi brothers and Eric Sorby on the final night, Andrew Short took his second win in a row. Winning their qualifying heats, Andrew Short and SÌ©bastien Tortelli seemed to be the men to beat during this third and last night. For the first over the weekend Tortelli got the holeshot in the main event, but he was stopped by the red flag as there was a pile-up in the first corner! Andrew Short was not in the leading group, but when they gave the second start he was right behind Mike Brown in second position, followed by Mike Alessi! Tortelli was only sixth but came back third at mid-race, riding impressively in the whoops section. Unfortunately the French favourite crashed on a step off jump, leaving the short alone in the lead. Alessi and Brown finished second and third respectively. Form an Australian point of view newly signed Factory Kawasaki rider and current Australian Pro Lites Champion Daniel Reardon finished an impressive 6th with Ryan Marmont round out the final night in ninth. Team USA won the over all event over the rest of the world squad.
