West Australian Mat Fabry Heads East for MX Nationals Action

Posted:

West Australian up and comer Mat Farby and his Dad will make the 3000 kilometer trip across the Nullarbor this weekend to compete in the MXD class at the Pirelli MX Nationals Opener at Newry in Victoria
After a good showing at Manjimup, WA, a few weeks ago, Bee Firm NRG/Yamaha rider Mat Fabry was keen for more competition to continue the growth of his new racing life in the senior ranks.

The sixteen year old is currently in good form after a couple of tough years with injury at the end of his junior career.

Fabry had some great battles in the MX2 class at Byford's annual Hendley Park Cup on the weekend taking the overall win and qualifying for the Feature Race, a twenty minute mix of the top forty lap times from all classes.

He used good throttle control and skill to ride the slick track in all three Moto‰Ûªs powering his Yamaha machine first to the chequered flag for the top spot on the podium.

In the twenty minute feature race, Farby got a good jump against the 450s with a perfectly timed start and led for the majority of the race displaying all the skills of a seasoned professional to ride tight lines and withstand the immense pressure from behind by the current MX1 series leader.

The young Harvey charger made his YZ250F as wide as possible for most of the race and was just overtaken in the closing laps, claiming second overall but gaining valuable race experience that he will take into the next championship round in two weeks.

‰ÛÏMy Bridgestone tyres really got me the good jump out of the gate today on the slippery surface especially in the final race. Even with just an Akrapovic exhaust my YZ250F had more than enough usable power to run with the bigger guys on this track as traction was at a premium today‰Û
