Mark ‰Û÷Wilko‰Ûª Wilkinson powered to his first front row start in the BSB Superstock 600 class in the heat at the flat and fast Snetterton circuit this weekend onboard the Gearlink Kawasaki ZX6r.
He then backed up his excellent 4th position in qualifying with his best race result to-date bringing it home with 6th position and 10 solid championship points.
Wilkinson got away well from the line for the 12 lap encounter before slipping back to 8th in the early stages. A race long battle with fellow Kawasaki riders Tim Hastings, Mason Law and Aussie Levi Day followed. Hastings unfortunately fell mid race leaving the three riders to battle out for 4th, 5th and 6th position with Wilko eventually settling for a best result of 6th.
‰ÛÏI had my best qualifying position this weekend and was on the front row in fourth place." Wilkinson enthused. "I knew the race would be tough because of the competition and also the heat played a factor in it all.
"It‰Ûªs the first time I‰Ûªve actually gone backwards in a race but that‰Ûªs because the competition at the front is so close and competitive," he added.
"We made no changes to the bike this weekend just a few tweaks to allow me to ride well here at Snetterton, everything worked perfect again and the Gearlink Kawasaki team have been great to me providing me with such a well prepped bike.
"It was a tough race but really enjoyable to ride, it‰Ûªs great to be running up at the sharp end and I‰Ûªve really got on well with the Kawasaki.
"A big thank you to everyone back in Australia for their support and Plaza Auto Sales, GS Automotive, ROMP Design, The Oil Warehouse for all their help in 2013.‰Û
