Wasserman and Lawrence Brothers Drop Lawsuits Against Former Agent Lucas Mirtl—For Now

Posted:

The fallout between high-profile motocross agent Lucas Mirtl and his former clients, Jett and Hunter Lawrence, has taken another turn, with both Wasserman Media Group and the Lawrence brothers filing—and then swiftly dismissing—separate lawsuits against him.

Mirtl, a key figure in the Lawrences’ rise in the U.S. motocross and supercross scene, was fired by both the family and Wasserman in January 2025 following allegations of financial misconduct. The Lawrences accused Mirtl of “misuse and misappropriation” of their personal funds after noticing suspicious activity in one of their business accounts.

Lawsuits Filed and Dropped

On January 30, 2025, Jett and Hunter Lawrence sued Mirtl in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida, alleging fraud and conversion (the improper use of someone else’s property for personal gain). The case, presided over by Judge Steven D. Merryday, saw legal filings throughout February, including a request from Mirtl’s attorneys for more time to respond to the complaint. However, on March 14, the Lawrence brothers voluntarily dismissed the case, leaving open the possibility of refiling in the future.

Just over a month later, Wasserman filed its own lawsuit against Mirtl in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas on March 10, 2025. The agency’s claims were contract-related, and it sought injunctive relief, even filing an emergency motion for a temporary restraining order. However, the case was short-lived. Judge Sean D. Jordan ordered Wasserman to amend its complaint by March 14 to establish proper jurisdiction. Instead, Wasserman’s attorney, Elizabeth Mooar Chiaviello, filed a voluntary dismissal on March 13, effectively closing the case the next day without prejudice.

What’s Next?

With both lawsuits withdrawn, the legal battle appears to be on pause—for now. The circumstances surrounding Mirtl’s split from the Lawrence brothers and Wasserman remain murky, with both parties standing by their conflicting accounts.

Mirtl has denied any wrongdoing, stating in a private social media post and in recent interviews that he was blindsided by the allegations and was not given an opportunity to defend himself. He called the accusations an insult to his character and suggested he was being publicly discredited without due process.

Whether further legal action will follow remains to be seen, but with the scale of the allegations and the high-profile names involved, this saga is unlikely to be over.
