Triumph Out paces the competition in Australia and Globally

Posted:

In a market that declined 14% Triumph Motorcycles have finished the year 1% up on 2009. Of the top 6 road manufacturers in Australia, Triumph was the only brand to see positive growth in 2009. "This is a great result given the tough economic conditions faced in 2009, we have great bikes, accessories and clothing, priced well and backed by a professional dealer network", said Triumphs marketing manager Mal Jarrett. The Street Triple is the number 1 naked bike, also in the top 10 naked category are the Bonneville, Speed Triple and Thruxton. The Tiger is in the top 10 adventure Touring segment whilst the Sprint St enjoys a top 10 spot in the Sports Touring category. The Thunderbird launched in September is also enjoying huge sales success with over 200 sales already and strong orders going forward. Triumph's outstanding performance in Australia has also been mirrored internationally. One of motorcycling's most recognized publications, MCN, have wrapped up 2009 with a bout of praise for the success of Triumph Motorcycles in an otherwise distressed market. As the year of '09 came to a close MCN announced "Triumph has outperformed the world", a result of Triumph's exceptional year and strongly linked to their sales figures achieved in motorcycling's worst year for probably two decades. In a year where global sales dropped a staggering 31% for motorcycles over 500cc, Triumph sold the most bikes they have ever recorded. Complimenting their sales results, Triumph have increased their global dealership count with 39 new dealers and increased their market share in every country in which they do business. These raw facts have contributed to one of Triumph's greatest accolades as 'Manufacturer of the year' presented by MCN at the NEC show in November. MCN report that "One obvious reason for Triumph's success is the quality of its bikes". A statement made with reference to the achievements of the many Triumph models over the past 12 months. Triumph's Street Triple range continues to sell promising numbers and recently won 'Readers choice Bike of the Year' awards in Australia and Bike of the Year in Japan! Sister and engine donor of the Street Triple, Triumph's Daytona 675 has also maintained its growth in the supersports segment representing 16% of all supersport motorcycles sold in the UK. And its not all about the sports bikes. If you add up all Bonneville variants 'Bonneville, T100, Thruxton, America‰Û_" Triumph's sales for the 865cc air cooled engine equates to over 1700 motorcycles sold in 2009. Triumph Motorcycles are looking forward to another great year with new models on the horizon, growing dealer networks and more success on the track.
