Following the opening round of the 2026 Hertz FIM Trial World Championship, the FIM has announced a number of adjustments to the recently introduced TrialGP race format after consultation with riders and stakeholders.
The changes are aimed at fine-tuning the format introduced for the premier TrialGP class and will come into effect as the championship continues.
One of the key changes affects Race Two, where all TrialGP riders will now begin the day with the Super Pole. The timed section will determine the starting order for the Final.
The FIM has also confirmed that scores will now carry over from the Final into the Super Final. The overall classification will only be determined once the Super Final has been completed, with a rider’s result based on their combined scores from all sections contested in both the Final and Super Final.
Another adjustment ensures that all TrialGP riders will participate in both the Final and the Super Final. A short pause will be incorporated between the two phases of competition, during which a provisional classification will be established. That classification will then be used to redefine the starting order for the Super Final while maintaining interest and competitiveness throughout the event.
The governing body has also clarified the tie-breaking procedure for the timed Super Pole section. Should riders remain tied after traditional marks lost on observation have been taken into account, the rider who records the fastest Super Pole time will be awarded the higher position.
In addition, selected events will see extra classes participate in the Super Test, providing fans with additional action alongside the TrialGP competition.
The adjustments follow feedback gathered after the opening round of the championship and are designed to further refine the format introduced for the 2026 season.
