Jordon Smith faced a difficult night at the seventh round of the 2025 AMA Supercross series in Arlington, Texas.
Competing in the Triple Crown format event at AT&T Stadium, Smith was looking to gain ground in the 250SX West championship battle.
After qualifying fourth, the Triumph Factory Racing rider carried confidence into the night’s racing, especially after Triumph’s first-ever AMA Supercross victory in a Triple Crown event earlier in the season. He got off to a flying start in Race 1, surging into the lead after an early pass on Jo Shimoda. Looking strong and in control, Smith briefly dropped to second following a small mistake but quickly reclaimed the top spot.
However, with just a few laps to go, disaster struck. A hard crash in the whoops forced him to withdraw from the event. Smith sustained multiple injuries, including a concussion, four broken ribs, a punctured lung, and a small spleen laceration. As a result, he was unable to line up for the remaining two races, leaving Arlington without any points and dropping to fifth in the 250SX West standings, now 24 points behind the championship leader.
“What a bummer,” Smith shared. “You can be doing everything right, and things still happen in this sport that you just don’t know why. I’m beat up, but I’ll be back! I’m still in the hospital, but I should be headed home in the morning. Thanks to all the fans, my family, and my team for the support. Also, huge thanks to the Alpinestars medical team for taking great care of me on the track and once we got back to the medic rig.”
Despite the setback, Triumph Factory Racing remains focused on the season ahead. General Manager Jeremy Coker praised Smith’s performance and remains optimistic about his recovery.
“Jordon was riding very well throughout the day and was on track to win the first race. He would have been hard to stop,” Coker noted. “Unfortunately, he had a crash in the whoops with two laps to go. This will be a small bump in the road for Jordon. The team will do everything we can to get him healthy and back on track for the next 250SX West race.”
As the 250SX West class takes a break, Triumph will shift focus to the 250SX East division, where Austin Forkner will continue his push for podium finishes at the legendary Daytona International Speedway on March 1.
