Australian riders Tom Drane and Max Whale continued their strong 2025 campaigns at the Memphis Shades Ventura Short Track, Round 5 of the Progressive American Flat Track Championship.
In the highly competitive AFT Singles presented by KICKER division, points leader Tom Drane extended his consistent run with a fourth-place finish. Although his record-setting podium streak came to an end at nine, the Australian’s efforts were enough to maintain his position at the top of the championship standings by a narrow two-point margin over Chase Saathoff (68-66).
Reflecting on a challenging day, Drane said, “Rode the struggle bus for most of the day. The team worked hard to get me comfortable on a tricky track. We will go back to work and be ready for Chico this weekend.”
Meanwhile, in the premier Mission AFT SuperTwins class, Max Whale delivered a solid performance aboard his Moto Anatomy X Powered by Royal Enfield 650, finishing sixth in the Main Event after an early battle inside the top five. The result keeps Whale firmly inside the top 10 of the championship standings as the series heads into the heart of the season.
The world’s premier dirt track motorcycle racing series now heads to Chico, California, for the Silver Dollar Short Track at Silver Dollar Speedway on Saturday, May 3, where riders will close out the back-to-back West Coast swing.
