Todd Waters Feeling Strong As MXGP Season Hits One Third Mark

Posted:

Red Bull IceOne Husqvarna Factory Racing‰Ûªs Todd Waters feels as though he is continuing to get stronger as the 2015 MXGP seasons heads into the second third of a long 20 race season.

The Australian was holding fifth in the opening MXGP moto at Matterley Basin on Sunday before the race was red flagged. Following the re-start he placed ninth after losing one position following a fall on the closing lap.

The final moto of the day proved a tough one for Waters. Coming together with Tyla Rattray, Waters battled his way to 16th. Waters ended the GP frustrated that he‰Ûªd not secured a better result, but encouraged at having been in fifth when the opening moto was red flagged.

‰ÛÏIt was an up and down GP for me, but I definitely feel like I‰Ûªm getting stronger." Waters commented. "I was gutted when the first moto was red flagged as I was fifth.

"In the re-start I also felt pretty good and was holding my own. I made a small mistake towards the end of the moto, but ninth was ok.

"In the second moto things just didn't go my way. I came together with Rattray pretty hard and was feeling a little fatigued. The result wasn‰Ûªt anything to shout about but generally I feel like I‰Ûªm getting faster.

"I just need to start well and stay fast for a full moto.‰Û

The weekend turned out to be a frustrating one for Australia's second Husqvarna factory pilot with Wilvo Nestaan 350 rider Dean Ferris unable to find his speed he showed to qualifying 8th on Saturday during the two MXGP races.

Ferris finished 13th and 18th in the two moto's on Sunday.

‰ÛÏIt‰Ûªs been a frustrating GP for me." Ferris admitted. "Saturday was really good ‰ÛÒ I felt great during my qualifying race and to finish sixth was really good.

"My speed was right there. It was the first time all season I'd been racing up front so I was feeling confident going into Sunday. I don't really know why but I struggled in both motos.

"My speed just wasn‰Ûªt there, which it was the day before. I was struggling and things just didn't work out.‰Û
