Todd Waters ends final ride with Honda with fifth

Posted:

Carlton Dry Honda Thor Racing's Todd Waters has ended the year with a night of solid results in the final round of the Monster Energy SuperX Championship at Ipswich last Saturday night.

The Queenslander, who was strong throughout practice and qualifying finished his heat race second and greeted the chequered flag fifth at the completion of the 20-lap Open Final.

After a slow start to the championship after injury left him with little preparation time Waters was up-beat about his final Supercross race for 2011 and his overall Championship finish of sixth.

"I felt really strong tonight," Waters said. "I had a good heat race and was leading my man-on-man qualifier but I made a mistake and Tye passed me in the last section.

"I didn't get the best start in the final, but I stayed out of trouble and worked my way through to fifth.

"It has been a difficult year for me, trying to come back after injuring my wrist at the beginning of the year. I felt I was finally getting some momentum and now the season is over," Waters admitted.

With Ben Townley and Brad Anderson taking up the Pro Open reigns in the Carlton Dry Honda Thor Racing team in 2012 Waters will move to the Suzuki Factory team.
