Billed as Australia‰Ûªs Ultimate Reliability Test, the 2016 24 Hour Trial lived up to its reputation with the inclement weather providing challenging conditions for both the bike and rider.
The Trial has been running since 1924 and is a tough event on all levels. It is demanding physically and mentally, with a combination of day and night riding, changeable conditions, sleep deprivation and the need to be race ready at the start of each of the 12 competitive sections every lap.
In addition, riders must keep their bikes roadworthy throughout the event which entails carrying tools and parts with them so they can perform any maintenance tasks and repairs.
To finish the event and endure 24 hours under these conditions is an achievement in itself. To win multiple years in succession is another level and is something which has only been achieved by a few special riders.
With the 2016 results now finalised, Todd Barry has elevated himself into this club claiming 3 wins in succession. Barry gives full credit for his success to the 4 stroke performance of the KTM 450 and also acknowledges the support of Roger Kessner from Kessner KTM and the work of Kessner KTM‰Ûªs head mechanic, Harry Norton who meticulously prepared the bike for the event.
And while Barry commented that the 450 was ‰ÛÏa big girl to handle in the wet and muddy conditions this year‰Û
