Toby Price remains a strong contender in the 2023 FIM World Rally-Raid Championship, with the final showdown at the Rallye du Maroc on the horizon.
As the championship draws to a close, Price is determined to narrow the nine-point gap that separates him from the current leader Luciano Benavides. The Rallye du Maroc, consisting of five challenging stages, will serve as the culmination of this year’s FIM World Rally-Raid Championship.
Commencing with a prologue on Friday, October 13, the event will take riders on a grueling journey through the Moroccan Desert, covering a total distance of 2,240 kilometers. The competition promises demanding navigation across rugged terrain for the initial stages, followed by the iconic Merzouga dunes, leading to the grand finale on October 18.
Toby Price enters the Rallye du Maroc in second place in the world championship standings. He aims to make up for a technical setback that cost him precious time and the championship lead during the previous Desafio Ruta 40 round. Price’s determination shone through as he bounced back over the subsequent three stages to secure a top-ten finish and valuable W2RC points.
Despite facing a slight disadvantage, the Australian rider is enthusiastic and committed to giving his all at the Moroccan event. He is determined to close the nine-point gap and seize the championship victory.
Price shared his thoughts: “The conditions are going to be quite challenging here! Morocco always presents a formidable test – it features rocky terrain and plenty of potential pitfalls, as I experienced last year. It was a tough one for me then, so my goal is to successfully cross the finish line and keep myself prepared for January. Although the setback in Argentina affected our championship prospects, we’re still very much in contention. Let’s see what the final day has in store!” the 36-year-old concluded.
