Due to ongoing health concerns and crowd restrictions in Sweden in light of COVID-19, the 2020 Norrbil Swedish, Scandinavian and Polish FIM Speedway Grand Prix have been cancelled.
The events were scheduled to take place at Hallstavik‰Ûªs Credentia Arena on July 25, Malilla‰Ûªs Skrotfrag Arena on August 15 and respectively.
This decision was made after careful consideration and consultation with the FIM, BSI Speedway, Svemo and the local venues and authorities, with the health and safety of supporters, riders and staff remaining the top priority.
Paul Bellamy, Managing Director and SVP of Motorsports, IMG said: ‰ÛÏCOVID-19 has had a significant impact on the 2020 schedule and we are very disappointed to not be returning to Sweden this year.
‰ÛÏWe remain committed to staging a 2020 world championship and crowning a world champion in October. And as such, we are working closely with the FIM on a contingency plan to ensure a minimum of eight SGP events take place in 2020. More detail on this will be shared in the coming weeks.
‰ÛÏIn the meantime, we thank our fans for their ongoing patience and support, and look forward to returning to action in the near future. We hope to return to 2020 World Championship action as soon as possible and will be sharing more detail on this in the coming weeks.‰Û
