The Pink Way Round

Posted:

Brisbane Motorbike enthusiasts Andrew Treloar and Glenn Bliesner will set off on the ride of their lives in April next year to go The Pink Way Round and raise money for breast cancer victims and their families.

The Pink way Round will take the riders from London to Singapore through 18 countries, 12 time zones, 56 cities, across two continents, travelling nearly 20,000km over 90 days.

"Our intention is to tie a pink ribbon around every major public landmark that we pass to symbolise hope and support for breast cancer victims," Andrew said. "It's our little way of saying, you are not alone and you are never forgotten."

The Pink Way was established by the riders in May this year as a charitable trust to raise and donate money to recognised Australian charities who assist breast cancer victims and their families.

"I recently watched my Sister-in-law go through the fight against breast cancer and the wife of one of my best mates at work," he said.

"I watched how devastating breast cancer can be to a family and saw how important support networks and the breast care nurses were in helping them get through."

The funds they raise through donations and corporate sponsorship for this ride will go to organisations like the Kim Walters Choice Program and the McGrath Foundation to fund more breast care nurses for a number of years.

"We already have Honda MPE, RideWorx Australia, Motorcycle Adventure Products, Pro Motorcycles K2Basecamp, MakeWay Constructions Pty Ltd, Arup, Kell & Rigby and KWA Blinds on board as corporate sponsors, but really need more sponsors and donations to reach our target of $500,000," he said.

"My employer, RSL Care, and my work colleagues are also supporting me in this venture," he said.

The Pink Way also have a number of fundraising events planned to help raise awareness about the ride, about breast cancer and to achieve their fundraising target of $500,000.

Keep an eye on their website www.thepinkwayround.com.au for more information.
