Despite everything that’s happened in 2025, the AMA Monster Energy Supercross series continues to deliver new and eventful rounds each week.

For some, it seems that no matter what they do—call it bad luck, poor execution, brain farts, or any number of reasons—the outcome always tends to go one way for them. Chase Sexton is becoming, or maybe has already become, that guy in Supercross. 95% of the time, he’s lights-out fast. But the other 5%? You can almost set your watch to the fact that a mistake will come, and it’ll be more outrageous than the last one he made. Cooper Webb was the beneficiary this past weekend in Detroit, taking home the overall win from the Triple Crown race, along with the confidence of knowing he has Chase Sexton right where he wants him: behind him in the championship hunt. What both of these guys bring to Daytona is what we’re all eagerly awaiting on Saturday night.

On the injury front, Arlington was relatively quiet, thankfully, despite that whoop section looking worse than a military testing ground. How Cole Davies held on during one of his runs through those whoops is nothing short of sheer dumb luck.

Jordon Smith will be a question mark for a few weeks after his whoop crash. A punctured lung will limit his recovery and cardio once healed. He might not be back for the next West Coast round, but with the season being a bit broken up, he could return for the one after in Seattle in a few weeks.

Julien Beaumer showed incredible grit, managing to ride through a shoulder dislocation suffered during qualifying in Arlington. His overall result wasn’t great, but considering the dislocation earlier that day, it’s quite impressive. That said, his championship hopes are now on life support. To rehab it and perform at a level equal to or better than a healthy Haiden Deegan will be quite the challenge for the KTM rider. Will he manage to continue throughout the season, or will he need surgery at some point? Time will tell.

In more serious news, privateer Chad Saultz suffered a potentially career-ending spinal injury following a chain break during a mid-week practice ride. If you’re able to support his recovery in any way, please head to Road2Recovery and donate: https://www.road2recovery.com/athlete-causes/chad-saultz/

Daytona will shake things up with a change from the usual season venues and track designs. Will it also lead to more names on the injury list? Let’s hope the softer dirt and longer track result in safer racing.
