The Emergency Department – Round 15 – An in-depth look at injuries in AMA SX

Posted:

Call me strange, but I really enjoyed Atalanta 1 with the heat races with the wet track so much more than the main events with all the track work that went on to make it a dry race at Atlanta 1.

With so many races indoors these days weather is rarely a factor in supercross. As well as the track crew covering the tracks with the massive amounts of plastic and race day schedule changes to keep the tracks covered during rain events all prevent wet races. For me, It was great to see a wet track that took some skill to get around and a big set of ‰Û_. Talent.

A big set of talent (wink wink) to jump some of the simpler doubles out there on that massive Atlanta track. By the way, how good were these past two Atlanta tracks? Massive layouts in the speedway, multiple whoop sections, a straight sand section, and some massive double/triples that were worthy of the horsepower and talent of today's modern supercross bikes and riders.

The other reason you might think I'm strange. Wet races like we saw at Atlanta 1 usually mean less injuries which means a quiet round of content for me, something I like but don't like. Yes we had a few injuries. But a few of these were later in the main events as the speed started increasing. Along with a few riders who thought they had recovered but were unable to get past practice in Justin Bogle and Benny Bloss.

Jump to Atlanta 2 and speeds were up. Mistakes were high. More injuries and more updates keeping a physio in Moto media busy. The crashes were spectacular to say the least at Atlanta 2. I mean they don't get much bigger than Cameron Mcadoo. That was beyond next level. But how does he get medically cleared in less than maybe 2mins (give or take)?

Despite being helped from the track by two alpinestars medical unit crew? Have to check back on that one as it's not even clear to me how they made an accurate assessment on concussion. Whilst assisting him off the track and ending back on his bike on the gate by the time the coverage came back from TV commercial. Definitely an event in supercross history that will be remembered for a while and will possibly see some changes to red flag restart rules for riders involved in or causing the red flag.

In some non Supercross Injury News. The GNCC Goat Kailub Russell decided to take on a fence at Pala whilst testing for the Outdoors and manage to get a concussion, 3 broken ribs and a broken Jaw. With only 6 wks until Outdoors kick off, he will be racing the clock to make the round one gate.

With 3 rounds to go in Supercross. Titles on the line and injuries mounting. I can't wait to tune in for Atlanta 3.

Until next race moto fans!

As always, If you're favourite rider is on this list, most likely they are seeing a Doctor or been to the Emergency Department via Ambulance recently.

This List has who we know has an injury. What that injury is and to where. As well as when we expect them back at the races. Maybe some extras if you're lucky.

If we have missed a rider or got an injury update wrong let us know. alwaysmoto2019@gmail.com
