Never again do I want to see a cross field start into a 90ish degree right turn ever again in AMA supercross!

I mean if you don't get a start. The race is over. Mind you the rest of the track didn't seem to assist passing but that's not the point I'm making. The short across the football field stadium starts are and will be junk forever and a day.

There is simply not enough distance to allow separation of the riders on the start straight. Nor is there anywhere for riders on the outside of the gate to go when they get to the first turn but off the track onto the concrete. It's just a quick way to end a race. In the 450 main as soon as Cooper hit that first rhythm section I knew he would win. It was that obvious. As boring as that was potentially going to be, on cue here comes Jason Anderson block passing all the Yamaha boys into a frenzy. Just to keep everyone's interest levels up for the remainder of that main event I guess.

Even the 250‰Ûªs saw the rookie Seth Hammaker holeshot and lead to the finish. The track left some design discussions to be had by Feld to try and make some quick adjustments for improved racing before Tuesday night (US time) next race day.

On the injury front, things started happening early in practice. Pierce Brown just couldn't help himself and got another injury after just coming back from a long lay off with a knee ACL. now has a hand fracture that will most likely see him miss the rest of supercross.

Hunter Sayles had a bad feeling in his knee after casing a quad during qualifying. Didn't even put his foot on the ground. But those bad feelings usually are a bad sign that an ACL has just popped. Scans for him before we can confirm a recovery timeframe.

Then there was the unseen crash from one of the big hitters, Marvin Musquin. Seems nobody got a camera angle on his crash except for the one of him laying in the berm after the fact. Now it's understood that Marvin had a minor concussion and a laceration to his arm that required stitches. But the reason he was unable to return to the LCQ was he was unable to pass the concussion protocol. This creates a slight problem for Arlington2 for Marvin.

I‰Ûªm currently working on some info for a story about the AMA concussion protocols and I believe based on that info Marvin might be forced to sit out until at least Arlington 3. There is a five step return to ride protocol post concussion. That is meant to take a minimum of 5 days to complete. So not looking good for Marvin to return at Arlington 2.

Jordan Smith crashed again. Starting to sound like a broken record here. 3 rounds, 3 big crashes resulting in trips to the Alpinestars medical unit. Initially when Jordan got up I thought he had broken a collarbone. But he was then able to remount and ride some laps at the back of the pack. So unclear what's happening there and won't know until practice starts for Arlington 2 given the two day turnaround between races.

With 7 rounds remaining in the 2021 Supercross series. There is a chance, at the rate we are going with injuries, that we may see some rounds with less than 40riders per class. The injuries seem to have been that frequent this season. Funnily enough despite the Covid-19 world we live in currently, injuries remain the biggest reason for missed races this year. There has only been 1 rider to miss any races that I know of from a positive test. Will this be a factor late in the series or will the vaccine help manage this aspect? I just hope we can see some crowds at all of the outdoor events this year. Last year was weird watching RedBud! Until next week moto fans!

As always, If you're favourite rider is on this list, most likely they are seeing a Doctor or been to the Emergency Department via Ambulance recently.

This List has who we know has an injury. What that injury is and to where. As well as when we expect them back at the races. Maybe some extras if you're lucky.

If we have missed a rider or got an injury update wrong let us know. alwaysmoto2019@gmail.com
