The Emergency Department – 2024 AMA Supercross – Daytona Rnd 8

Daytona marks the start of the Supercross series, right? I think a Goat has said that more than a few times.

Well, you say something often enough. Eventually, you will get it right. In 2024 it seems that it is exactly the case. An extremely tight 450 championship chase has unfolded through 7 rounds so far. With only 19 points separating 1st from 7th in the title hunt.

It’s not so much the points that make it the potential start of the championship this weekend. But more the potential heavyweights arrive, all at once in Daytona.

Jett Lawrence has had an ok start to the season. Two wins but potentially could have been at least 3 if not for a few mistakes last weekend. So his motivation to perform in Daytona is high to rebound from last week.

Cooper Webb, is the only other two-time winner in 2024. But he has had a circle on his calendar around Daytona for a number of years. In an effort to check that one off the win list for his career. He has been close many times while Eli has been on his win streak. Is this the year Cooper can cross it off his list?

But maybe the most interesting point of all. Eli Tomac has apparently found Beast mode finally in 2024. Last week in Arlington was the first sign of real life for Tomac. With Daytona this weekend being his stomping grounds. He will be out to re-establish himself at the front.

Let’s not forget Aaron Plessinger and Hunter Lawrence. The stars are aligning for Daytona in 2024 to be an epic race if the start allows and the weather plays it part too.

On the injury front. Everyone has been talking about Austin Forkner this week. Check our YouTube content for more on this.

Jeremy Martin will make his return from a concussion this week. Josh Cartwright is back from an AC separation. Kevin Moranz somehow escaped a serious injury in Arlington and will be on the gate in Daytona. Some of these guys have had some serious dirt samples in 2024. The best part is that most of them are running a Vlog these days and have captured the crashes on their YouTube channels for everyone to see.

The Austin Forkner management was an interesting situation in Arlington. The US has different approaches to the medical management of injured people but should Austin have been allowed up to walk to the Medic Cart with the C Collar on?
We explore that in this YouTube video
