Eli Tomac scared a few people with his practice crash in East Rutherford. But a Corked Thigh did not prevent him from extending his points lead

Talk about a strange race day in AMA Supercross at East Rutherford.

From Eli Tomac going down early to lightning delays before the main events and even potentially needing a jet ski to make that final corner if you ask RJ Hampshire.

Somehow on the injury front, we lost a lot of factory guys during the morning sessions in East Rutherford. Thankfully one managed to return for the night program. Whilst the other two will be back this weekend as well.

Eli Tomac gave the title chase a bit of a scare. But a corked thigh is minor for a Moto injury and if you manage to keep it warm. As in loose to movement. There is no reason he couldn’t come straight out and do exactly what he did later that night. With that minor injury, he still extended his points lead.

Aaron Plessinger took a big hit in the untimed session. A hip contusion and some coughing up of blood led to him getting some further scans and missing out on the first mud race of the year that I’m sure he is the only guy who wishes he was on the gate more than not.

Aaron Plessinger missed the mud race through injury. He hopes to return this week in Nashville

Adam Cianciarulo has had a better but not great season. Somehow he was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Running into Justin Barcia in practice as Barcia was losing control of his bike. Leading to Cianciarulo going down hard and suffering a concussion. Lucky for Cianciarulo he has cleared the AMA concussion protocol and will be on the gate again this weekend in Nashville.

Adam Cianciarulo missed last week’s race after a collision with Justin Barcia in practice.

Hunter Lawrence has reportedly had a practice crash before East Rutherford but it didn’t appear to slow him down much. Hunter Lawrence didn’t get to clinch the title last weekend but is looking good to wrap it up this week.

It is the business end of the Supercross season. Unfortunately, it tends to mean some less-than-exciting racing. With the three guys still in the title hunt in the 450 class let’s hope that we can keep this thing tight all the way to the final round in Salt Lake City in 3wks time.
