The Emergency Department – 2023 AMA Supercross Championship Round 14 – East Rutherford

Nate Thrasher is out for 2023 after his injuries in Atlanta. Nate will now get his torn ACL repaired during this recovery period.

Chase Sexton made Atlanta his own last weekend. Finally breaking the streak of crashing whilst leading. But I’ve said this for a while now. It will take more than one to make the confidence grow.

If he can do that again in the next two weeks, watch him grow in stature and his dominance potentially flourish. But if he doesn’t win again. Or worse has a crash whilst leading in the remaining supercross rounds. Then this could be a lingering issue still due to the change to Outdoors coming here in just around 4 weeks.

Eli Tomac and Cooper Webb just didn’t have it last weekend in Atlanta. But I’d fall off my chair if both of them missed the podium again this week at East Rutherford. The Championship is tight now and both of them will be all in for these remaining 4 rounds.

Hunter Lawrence is on track to win his first SX title this weekend in the US. His riding this year has been impressive in many ways but his save in the early laps of Atlanta was maybe the most impressive so far. That could have been an injury and the end of his season. But it was a quick detour and back to the front a few corners later.

Nate Thrasher has been performing well in the 2023 East Coast SX. Despite managing through an ACL tear after round 2. Unfortunately, his crash in Atlanta has ended his season. A dislocated hip with some bone fragments and a broken collarbone will require a lot of rehab. The Team has also confirmed that given the injuries from Atlanta. Nate Thrasher will also use this time to have his ACL repaired next week. Confirming that he will likely be out of action for the remainder of 2023.

The 250 class has been smashed with Injuries in 2023. But somehow, Tom Vialle managed to escape injury in Atlanta after a mid-air collision lead to a big crash for the Frenchman. He will be able to race East Rutherford this weekend. For Tom, he just needs to get to the Outdoors Healthy. He will be a serious contender if he can manage that. But Supercross is difficult. 3 rounds left for him to navigate safely.

Tom Vialle survived a mid-air collision in Atlanta and will be able to line up for East Rutherford

Considering the injuries this year. Our injuries per round stat are quite high. 7.8 injuries per round so far in 2023 is a concerning stat in my book. Along with 5 dislocations. 2 hip dislocations in 2 weeks are unusual and also painful for Nate Thrasher and Christian Craig I’m sure.

Fingers crossed for all of us Aussie fans that we see Hunter with a number one plate by the end of the 250main this week.
