The Emergency Department – 2023 AMA Motocross Round 3 – Thunder Valley

The AMA Motocross Outdoors has kicked off for 2023 and as much as we Aussie fans should be excited for our homegrown talent kicking butt on the US scene.

I can’t help but be a little underwhelmed by the series so far. The sheer number of riders out. Just makes the series lose that bit of an exciting kick. So many guys remain on the sidelines from Supercross. With a few more big names joining them since the Outdoors kicked off

Chase Sexton is a big question mark at present. Don’t get me started on the potential miss of the concussion protocol from his Pala Qualifying crash. But let’s instead focus on the Mono diagnosis. This is a form of Epstein Barr Virus (EBV) and generally requires a 4-6 wk recovery to prevent a full-on EBV episode from kicking off. Will Chase return earlier? Will his secondary blood work investigations show anything different? We need him back to keep our young Aussie honest in that 450 class.

No Chase Sexton again this weekend in Thunder Valley as he continues to recover from a Concussion and Mono.

Jeremy Martin will be out for some time. His arm injuries at Hangtown were nothing short of ugly and well-captured by the TV crew. Jeremy spoke a lot about getting through 2023 healthy. Particularly Supercross, knowing that he is more of an outdoors guy. Unfortunately this time around he made all but one supercross. Only to go out early in outdoors. Ever since his major back injury a few years ago. Things have not gone well for Jeremy.

Jeremy Martin made it through Supercross healthy for the first time in a number of years but is now injured early Outdoors and out for the season likely.

Michael Mosiman looks to have hit another rough spot. His Hangtown crash looked to be another bump in the road that will see another period on the sidelines for him.

All we can hope for is that the existing riders can stay healthy long enough to allow some riders to return. I’d say around Red Bud we will start to see riders trickle back into the series as there is a week off just before the Red Bud round. But time will tell if they are able to regain fitness and be ready enough to compete.

We have another big season happening in the AlwaysMoto Fantasy league with plenty of prizes up for grabs. To enter email fantasy@alwaysmoto.com to get the league details.
