The Emergency Department – 2022 AMA Supercross Round 7 – Who’s In And Out

Josh Hill was the only major injury from the 450 class last weekend.

Good thing we are going East! Anaheim 3 was brutal last weekend for almost the entire field of 250 and 450 riders.

Only really Christian Craig, Jason Anderson and Eli Tomac seemed to survive the track. But Jason and Eli both had their moments in those now, infamous whoops from A3.

From the 250 class perspective. There was an enormous number of guys that failed to finish considering it is a Supercross race. Jalek Swoll had to retire another helmet but seems ok and is back outdoor testing already this week. Nate Thrasher got caught up in the Jalek crash and also wasn’t able to finish. Hunter Lawrence DNF. Also crashed hard in the whoops. But has been seen to be looking healthy on Instagram stories the day after during a Superbowl party. Then Jerry Robin also did some minor damage to his shoulder.

Check the list for more on him below. This was after we lost Jo Shimoda to a lower leg/foot injury in the heat races. So there is a potential 5-6 guys that if the West Coast had another round this weekend. They might not have been able to be at the gate. Good thing the East Coast 250 guys can tag in for their turn now.

But a number of East guys are also already out of action with pre-season issues. Bryton Carrol, Jess Pettis, Ryder Floyd and Jonah Geistler are all out for the season before it begins.

But we also have a lot of East Coast guys on the return from long injury layoffs at the end of last season.
Jeremy Martin is back after repair work to his wrist (Scaphoid fracture), Phil Nicoletti is back from ACL repair, Jordon Smith is back from shoulder repair following his dislocation in supercross last year. Not to mention Levi Kitchen, Coty Schock and even Jet Lawrence all had minor injury issues in December/January that made them need to switch to East Coast. But we will see how they all fair on Saturday. Finger crossed all the hype around the Aussie boy Jett is proven 100% accurate for this Supercross season.

Jett Lawrence will make his 2022 debut as the 250SX East Coast Championship gets underway this weekend at Minneapolis.

On the 450 front. Josh Hill had a decent crash and injury that has unconfirmed reports of a pelvis fracture and hip dislocation. But outside of Josh Hill’s injury from A3, nothing major was noted heading into Minneapolis for Round 7 for the 450 class.

With the shift in coast comes a shift in the dirt. It’s now softer and deeper. Will this translate into even more injury news? Or will it simply put more distance in the title hunt that at this stage seems to be coming down to Eli Tomac and Jason Anderson?

As always, If your favourite rider is on this list, most likely they have been to the Emergency Department recently. This list has who we know has an injury. What that injury is, as well as when we expect them back at the races. Maybe some extras if you’re lucky!

If we have missed a rider or got an injury update wrong let us know. alwaysmoto2019@gmail.com or @always.moto on Instagram

See you next week Moto fans.
