2016 FIM World Motocross Championship Round 8: Italy
The DIRTY WEEKEND AHEAD: 14th and 15th of May
MXGP is set for Italy this weekend
Set in a wide glacial valley guarded by the karst peaks of the Brenta Dolomite Mountains and nestled on the shores of the wind rippled Lake Garda, the MXGP of Trentino in Pietramurata is one of the most loved stops on the calendar.

The track is rock hard clay, stony and has loads of elevation as it rips up, down and around the hills based at the bottom of the Dolomites. The first round of the FIM Motocross World Championship to take place at this extraordinary venue was back in 1987 and they have since had six rounds with this weekend being the seventh as it will host the eighth round of the 2016 FIM Motocross World Championship, as well as the fourth round of the European Championship EMX250 and the second round of the European Championship EMX125 Presented by FMF Racing.

Last year, Tim Gajser, MXGP‰Ûªs rookie who snatched the red plate from Romain Febvre last weekend, won the MX2 grand prix here fair and square, even with an uninjured Jeffrey Herlings on the line.

Meanwhile in the premier class, it provided some of the most captivating racing of the season as all of the top cats went bar-to-bar, quite literally. Gautier Paulin had some misfortune, Clement Desalle crashed, while the most memorable occurrence on that day was the season ending crash of American legend Ryan Villopoto who got an unusual case of whiskey throttle and broke his coccyx. All the drama aside, Max Nagl wound up the grand prix winner, ahead of Antonio Cairoli and Clement Desalle.

Heading into this weekend Gasjer and Herlings will carry the red plates into Italy in their respective classes, but there is no doubt the crowd favourite will be Antonio Cairoli and after winning his first MXGP in a year last weekend will look to continue his push towards the 2016 championship win this weekend on home soil.

2016 AMSOIL GNCC Round 6: Springville, Indiana

Lawrence County Recreational Park in Springville, Indiana, will host the sixth round of the 2016 AMSOIL Grand National Cross Country (GNCC) Series presented by Maxxis, an AMA National Championship, this weekend, May 14 and 15.

While FMF/KTM Factory Racing's Kailub Russell has dominated the past three rounds, Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing/Bel-Ray's Josh Strang has not lost sight of the National Championship.

After a rough start to the season, Russell's recent results show that he finally has everything under control and will continue to be a contender for the overall win. Just last year Russell won the Limestone 100 GNCC, and will look to repeat his success this Sunday.

"Limestone is a nice track with some good dirt," said Russell. "Of course it's a riding park so there are a lot of different trails in all conditions. I'm just going to work hard during the week and go for another win."

One rider who will have his eyes set on taking the win away from Russell will be Aussie Josh Strang. After having issues at the previous round, Strang fell to second in the points championship and will be eager to earn the white plate back this weekend. With two overall wins and four podium finishes, Strang has been Russell's biggest competition all year and will continue his fight for the National Championship this weekend.

Finishing just off the podium at the previous Camp Coker Bullet GNCC was JCR Honda/Lucas Oil/Maxxis/FLY Racing's Chris Bach. The Indiana native is no stranger to the track conditions present at the Lawrence County Recreational Park and will look to capitalize on his home turf advantage to take his first overall win of the season.

N-Fab/AmPro Yamaha's Aussie import Daniel Milner, sitting fourth, is setting himself up for a season best finish. Milner has not made a podium appearance since landing a second place at the Wild Boar GNCC, and will attempt to turn his season around and find himself on the box at the conclusion of the three-hour race this Sunday.

FULLNOISE.COM.AU's Weekend Ahead
The DIRTY WEEKEND AHEAD: 14th and 15th of May
Its the weekend lets go ride!
This weekend we are heading to Gillman in South Australia to race the opening round of the 2016 SAMX Championships.

The South Aussies titles have been changed up quite a bit for 2016, with all senior classes moving from a three moto format to a two moto format with longer races, so it will be interesting to see how the majority of riders adapt to racing a 15 minute moto plus a lap compared to 10.

If anything it should have riders thinking a little more long term out on track, looking for smoother lines and trying to hold back from going flat out for the first 5-8 minutes then trying to hold on until the end of the race.

Another great move fort the titles will see the A and B grade riders combined into one class, though still fighting it out for their own championship, moving back to the old days of moto racing when gates were filled and there was not so much time wasted in the day running 2 or 3 races for 10 riders in three seperate races. A MX start line has 40 gates, it makes sense to get as many as you can on there and hold longer races, at the end of the day we are out there to ride / race.

Along with hitting the race track, we will be sure to keep the updates coming with the racing going on both here in Australia and around the world.

Monday Motoboard will be live Monday morning so make sure you head back to check out all the international, nationals and state based results as they become available..

Now get out there and ride!
