Team Motul Suzuki Targets Conondale MX Nationals Success

Posted:

Reigning Australian Motocross Champion Matt Moss carries a 19-point advantage into this Sunday's seventh round of the 2014 MX Nationals, Australian Motocross Championship, at Conondale in Queensland.

Moss was third overall when the season resumed at Swan Hill last month, however with a strong lead-up to Conondale training in Queensland, he's poised to rise to the challenge in search of a second consecutive MX1 crown on board the RM-Z450.

For Moss these final four rounds of the series present an opportunity to capitalise on his early-season form, with any additional points lead certain to pay dividends when the season concludes in August.

Last year at Conondale Team Motul Suzuki managed a glorious 1-2 finish in the premier MX1 ranks, with Moss hopeful for much of the same when returning this weekend.

"There's a lot of history at Conondale and it's always a good event to come out and win," Moss said. "I need to come out swinging at this stage, I feel like I've left myself a little bit short in riding partners and stuff earlier this year, but everything is moving forward and we're in a good position.

"To finish second last year at Conondale was a good result, we just missed out on the win by a point, so hopefully we can go one better this year - it's definitely a track I like a lot and look forward to racing on."
Teammate Carter displayed some of his best form to date at Swan Hill, and while the end result wasn't an indication of his speed, the Kiwi rookie wants to make further inroads over the coming events for Team Motul Suzuki.

Carter currently sits 11th in the championship chase after a non-finish at Swan Hill, but he has his sights set on a position well inside the top 10 overall for the season. He's currently 22 points from seventh in the series.

"I felt like Swan Hill was a really promising round for us, my speed felt really strong, but it ended up being quite a difficult weekend on paper," Carter explained.

"The plan is to move past that now though, take some confidence from my performance there and try finish the season with consistent results. If we can do that then it will be a strong finish to the season."
