Team Honda Racing Gear up for the 2014 MotoGP Event

Posted:

It is all systems go at Phillip Island as Team Honda Racing prepares for the 2014 Australian MotoGP event this weekend.

The focus for Team Honda Racing this weekend is the 2014 Phillip Island Championship which is being held in conjunction with the MotoGP event. Encompassing the two largest motorcycle racing events on the Australian Calendar, Round 1 of the Phillip Island Championship was held in conjunction with the Australian round of the World Superbike Championship in February.

Jamie Stauffer was the Round 1 victor and has his sights set on taking the title this weekend at Round 2. Also Competing at the Phillip Island Championship this weekend under the #1 plate is Wayne Maxwell who currently leads the 2014 Australasian Superbike Championship.

Maxwell will be keen to take all 3 race wins at this weekend‰Ûªs event after a disastrous Round 1 saw him injured and out of the points for the event. Fighting fit and ready to do battle, Maxwell will no doubt be looking to thwart Stauffer‰Ûªs efforts to take the Phillip Island Championship title.

In a similar position this weekend is #16 Josh Hook whose Round 1 experience landed him in hospital and out of action for some time. Having won Race 1 of the first round of the Phillip Island Championship, Hook‰Ûªs Race 2 crash with team mate Maxwell was not the season starter he was hoping for.

Hook subsequently missed the first round of the Australasian Superbike Championship to focus on recovery. This weekend, Hook too will be seeking maximum points.

Rounding out the Team Honda Racing line-up this weekend is #17 Troy Herfoss whose late addition to the Honda team meant he did not compete at the first round of the Phillip Island Championship. Herfoss currently sits in 3rd place on the ASC leaderboard behind Stauffer, proving the last minute addition to the team has been no obstacle to his performance onboard the CBR1000RR SP.

All 4 Team Honda Racing riders are fit, eager and ready to perform in front of the international crowd that will gather for the MotoGP and all 4 riders are looking to win.
