Team Ducati Top Day One Of Testing At Qatar

Posted:

The Ducati Team riders get off to a superb start on day one of testing in Qatar with Andrea Iannone finishing the session on top of the time sheets followed by team-mate Andrea Dovizioso in 2nd aboard new Desmosedici GP15.

Iannone took to the track at around six o‰Ûªclock in the afternoon and concentrated on testing the new Desmosedici GP15. He completed 50 laps, setting his quickest time in 1‰Ûª55.265 on lap 30 and topping the timesheets at the end of the day.

‰ÛÏFor sure it was a positive first day, and we are learning more and more about the Desmosedici GP15 and its reactions." Iannone said. "Today we carried out the schedule we had planned at the start of the day and we managed to get through everything we had to do. Now our engineers will have even more information to evaluate the situation, and in any case we were always quick. I am happy because we are improving every time we go out onto the track.‰Û
Aleix Espargaro again gave Suzuki MotoGp a reason to feel positive heading into the season opener posting the fourth fastest time on day one.
Repsol Honda's Marc Marques was third fastest while Aleix Espargaro again gave Suzuki MotoGp a reason to feel positive heading into the season opener posting the fourth fastest time on day one.

‰ÛÏToday we focused on adapting the set-up to the track, which is new for us, and to get well-prepared for the race." Espargaro said. "Lap times are not so bad but there is still room for improvements.

"We tested both soft and hard tyres: the first one is very competitive, but it is not suitable for this kind of track as it deteriorates pretty quickly. I feel more-confident with the hard tyre, the pace is not that much slower but the grip drops after 10/ 11 laps, so we need to work on electronics and settings to counterbalance this.

Dani Pedroso rounded out the top five aboard his Honda. Jorge Lorenzo was the leading Yamaha rider in 6th position, with Cal Crutchlow 7th on his LCR honda, Valentino Rossi 8th, Bradley Smith the leading Monster Yamaha Tech3 rider in ninth and Scott Reading 10th.

Australia's Jack Miller finished the day 19th fastest.
