Smarter Than Smoking W.A Minikhana Events Shine in 2014

Posted:

The latestes Smarter Than Smoking Western Australian Minikhana event has been hailed a huge success, and with plenty more events scheduled throughout 2014 young riders are being encouraged to partake in these fun events.

The latest event held on Sunday the 20th of July started out looking ominous with the memories of last fortnight‰Ûªs battle against the elements fresh in riders minds, but their fears were unsubstantiated as after a few light showers we were rained down with sun shine rather than the wet variety of rain.

The first event, the Orange Peel was fiercely battled out down to the line with a three way tie for first place with local Jarrod Cornick ending up with equal first with his cousin from Kelmscott Mason Cornick and Wellard local Mathew Crosbie, with Seth Wong, Colby Smith and Talon Harbron also riding very well in the slippery conditions.

A few new comers into Minikhana also showed off their riding skills and adapted well to the slower paced skill focused courses that Minikhana has, such as Joe Venables in the Slow Race and Joshua Scovell in the Minicross

There was great action in the Start and Park where dirt was flying around as the riders pushed their machines to race against the clock to come to a complete stop within a small marked box in wet grass. This saw riders over shoot their marks several times but finally mastering the stopping techniques in the testing conditions.

The Minicross saw the riders get their race faces on. This saw some great riding with very close finishes, even if one of the officials cut on of the rounds off one lap short, which resulted in a rerun of the race.

Smarter Than Smoking Minikhana will rev up again this weekend at the Pinjar Junior Training and Education Centre out at Lot 200 Ziatas Road, Pinjar on Sunday, 3rd August 2014åÊ Registrations are open on line here https://www.registernow.com.au/secure/Register.aspx?E=13374
