Ballan‰Ûªs Matt Barton is hoping that the secrets of Phillip Island‰Ûªs Grand Prix Circuit will give him the competitive edge against the best racers in the world when he competes in the Moto3 class at this weekend‰Ûªs 2015 Pramac Australian MotoGP from October 16-18.
The 19-year-old will take part in practice on Friday, qualifying on Saturday, and the big race on Sunday.
‰ÛÏBasically at Phillip Island, I‰Ûªm relatively confident anywhere around the track. I know the secrets in passing in places where a lot of riders don‰Ûªt even think about passing, which can catch them off-guard." Barton admitted. ‰ÛÏIt‰Ûªs a big confidence boost to know that I can pass anyone, anywhere out there.".
The Ballan racer recently finished third overall in the Moto3 class at the 2015 Yamaha Motor Finance Australian Superbike Championship (ASBK), but won the final round, winning two out of three races, at Phillip Island earlier in the month. He was successful in gaining a wildcard entry from Motorcycling Australia in September.
Matt hopes to learn everything he can during practice on Friday.
‰ÛÏHopefully, I can tag along the back of a few of the quicker guys and learn some lines, but I‰Ûªll be really pushing myself around the track and figuring things out for myself. It‰Ûªll be a big learning curve on Friday, which will be good,‰Û
