Season Best Result For Joel Evans Sees TM Finish On Top

Posted:

A season best result for TM Racing Australia supported, Full Force Racing Components team rider Joel Evans has ensured a 1-2 result for TM Machinery in the MX2 North Cup.

Evan‰Ûªs weekend did not start off the way he would have liked when he was cleaned up by another rider as qualifying got underway on Saturday, with the force of the impact in the collision ripping his header pipe clean off and snapping the brackets that hold it in place.

With no qualifying time posted on Saturday, Evans lined up aboard his TM MX 250 two stroke on the far outside of the start gates due to having the last pick of the gate.

The 19 year old who has hit every personal goal he set himself heading into the season was not about to be denied hitting one more target on is home track and fired out of the gate in all three moto‰Ûªs coming out of the first turn inside the top five in every single moto including a big holeshot around the outside in race two.

Taking full advantage of his great starts Evans raced to an 7-9-7 moto results to end the day 6th overall in the MX2 class and in the process lifted himself to 10th overall in the final championship standings in his first full year of racing the national circuit.

His great round result also elevated him to the win in the MX2 North Cup, heading a 1-2 result for TM.

‰ÛÏWe finished of the Mx National season with a bang at Coolum. ‰ÛÏ Evans enthused. ‰ÛÏSaturday was a very trying day with little things going wrong in both practise and qualifying eventually resulting in me being left with last gate pick.

‰ÛÏI had a lot of support and we came into Sunday positive and ready to turn it around. Warm up went well and I was happy coming into the racing.

‰ÛÏI managed to pull 3 awesome starts with one being a holeshot in the 2nd Moto and came away with my best 3 results all year with 7,9,7 moto finishes which put me into 6th overall for the day. My points for the day managed to bump me into the top 10 overall for the series and give me the Privateer cup Win.

‰ÛÏMy goal at the start of the year was to finish inside the top 10 in the championship and after missing 5 moto‰Ûªs during the series I am pumped I was still able to achieve that. ‰ÛÏI am improving with every ride and believe that next year will be really good for me.

‰ÛÏI'd like to give a massive thanks to everyone who has supported me throughout the year i am very appreciative of all the help I receive from Full Force Racing Components along with all of my personal sponsors and of course my family.‰Û

Joining Evans on the podium in the MX2 North cup was Andrew‰Ûªs motorcycles products supported racer Zaccari Luzzi.

Luzzi who is also only started racing the national rounds in the second half of the year to compete in the North Cup as continually improved each and every round and finished the season out with his best results of his four race campaign.

‰ÛÏComing into Coolum I felt good. Having a little bit if bike time though the week I was happy. ‰ÛÏLuzzi commented. ‰ÛÏI had top 5 starts all weekend but unfortunately had a few too many crashes including one that left me in the hands of race safe in the final moto.

‰ÛÏMy two top twenty finishes in the first two races were enough to see me gain enough points to finish second in the MX2 North Cup which I am more than happy with.‰Û

Also representing TM at the final round of the year was long time TM rider Nyk Geck who competed in the final round of the two stroke cup.

After only riding twice in the past three months Geck showed his natural talent to finish with 6-7-10 results in the three moto format leaving him in 7th place for the round.

‰ÛÏAs unprepared as I was, I am happy with how the whole day went, it was unreal to come back and have so much fun with no pressure.‰Û
