Sanz to be replaced by Lenzi and Hemingway

Posted:

Montesa Australia have regretfully announced that Laia Sanz, who had been confirmed by Montesa Spain to ride in the International Super Trial on November 5-6, has had to pull out of the event due to sponsor and team commitments. Mr. Xavier Pros, from Montesa Spain, was extremely apologetic when he contacted Australian Montesa importer Tarp Hassinen to explain the unavoidable clash of schedules and commitments. "Laia was very excited to come to Australia and Montesa very much wanted her to go as well. I am very sorry that it is now impossible." Pros explained. Hassinen, who was disappointed at the news, has worked hard with Montesa Spain to secure quality replacement Team Montesa/Honda riders at short notice including World Championship rider and 2005 Italian Champion Fabio Lenzi, as well as Ben Hemingway, England's leading Montesa rider behind seven times World Champion Dougie Lampkin. "I am extremely disappointed that Laia was forced to withdraw but rapt to find such fantastic quality riders so close to the event" exclaimed Tarp. "Fabio is a hero in Italy and Ben's second in this year's Scottish shows how good he is. They will be spectacular to watch." 29 year old Lenzi from Rovato Italy is an extremely experienced trials rider having competed in World Championship events for many years. His victory in the 2005 Italian Championship follows wins in 2003 and 2004. He has been a member of Italy's Trials des Nations team six times, finishing as high as third in 1997. Winning the prestigious German Indoor Championship in 2000 and 2001, Lenzi has great skill on the man made sections, which will prove to be a serious advantage at the two day Super Trials to be held near Bendigo, VIC in less than two weeks time. Ben Hemingway, from Leeds in England, has been a regular World Championship rider but spent most of 2005 on the World Championship circuit as minder for Dougie Lampkin. The 28 year old rode the Montesa 4RT to a sensational second place at this year's Scottish 6 Day Trial, was a member of England's triumphant 2003 Trials de Nations Team and has had great success at British and European Championships over many years. All manufacturers' teams for the event have now been finalized and each team has an exciting array of international and Australian riders which will make for spectacular viewing and enthralling competition. Information and tickets for the International Super Trial can be obtained by phoning 03 5439 6333 or by visiting www.supertrial.org.
